Gridlock movie 2015 ending11/13/2023 Sproule’s concerns are borne out of concern about what would happen to the dividends from Crowns, that people in Saskatchewan benefit from, if portions of those Crowns were sold off. When asked if it would have been good due diligence to consider the impacts of opening the door to sell off portions of the Crowns without considering what impact that could have on taxation, Doherty said that for now the province is “just not going down that rabbit hole.” “The people of Saskatchewan need to know what we’re being faced here with this proposition it’s unique to Saskatchewan,” she said.įinance Minister Kevin Doherty said the NDP is “already speculating about what could be the outcome of something that has not been even contemplated by this government.” Sproule said she was not putting the cart before the horse by raising the issue of what would happen if more than 10 per cent of a Crown is sold. That matter is still being reviewed by provincial lawyers. It will pass because the Saskatchewan Party has a majority, but even then there is still the matter of the province potentially needing to change laws that govern each Crown to allow for parts of them to be sold. Legislation to define “privatization” is still making its way through the legislature. There is much legal wrangling to be done before the province can even consider selling portions of the Crowns. “It’s all about the definition,” she said. ![]() ![]() Sproule echoed her caucus colleagues Tuesday in suggesting this is all a back-door attempt by the government to sell off Crown corporations. Instead, Wall has suggested officially defining the word opens the door for the province to sell up to 49 per cent of Crowns and raise equity for the province in doing so. Premier Brad Wall and other government ministers insist creating an official definition of the word is not part of a plan to actually privatize any of the Crown corporations.
